Executive Director Report - April 2019

4/9/2019

Executive Director Report

Sat Nam,

The Siri Singh Sahib Corporation deals with a myriad of issues that face a rapidly expanding organization dedicated to the promotion of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan and Sikh Dharma.  The SSSC has huge responsibilities as it must provide both the spiritual and temporal leadership over the Siri Singh Sahib’s legacy. On the spiritual level, it must set the direction for the organization and on the temporal side it deals with the administrative issues that come with oversight over the numerous nonprofits and for-profit organizations that the Siri Singh Sahib left behind to benefit humanity.

One important responsibility the SSSC has is to ensure that the Boards of the organizations for which it has responsibility are populated by people with the appropriate skills.  We plan to solicit qualified individuals to build a database of potential talent to fill these important roles overseeing KIIT and the non-profits. Please watch for notice of this in the future. We encourage you to apply.

Another initiative, undertaken at the recommendation of the International Khalsa Council, is a recent resolution that was approved to expand the electorate eligible to vote in the next SSSC election. In addition, to Ministers in Good Standing and active Khalsa Council members,  the SSSC will be instituting an application process whereby individuals meeting certain other eligibility requirements may apply. Watch for a separate email in the near future with detailed instructions and an invitation to apply.
The Siri Singh Sahib Corporation in partnership with the 3HO Foundation has endeavored to make Peace Prayer Day at Summer Solstice a memorable event. We are excited to offer this year’s Siri Singh Sahib Award for Social Justice to Fania Davis, whose work in Restorative Justice and the schools has yielded great results. Fania joins the list of notable previous recipients (Reverend CT Vivian, Valarie Kaur, the Interfaith Amigos, and Christian Picciolini) who are living lives dedicated to the upliftment of humanity.  In addition, the 3HO Foundation is sponsoring the Luminary Program where it is bring deserving individuals who are spreading the teachings from all over the globe. We encourage you to attend Summer Solstice and participate along with us in this very special event.
In Chardi Kala,

Satwant Singh Khalsa
Executive Director
Siri Singh Sahib Corporation
